Young entrepreneur raises over £100 for charity ‘Daft as a brush’

A young entrepreneur who has turned her hobby into a business to raise money for ‘Daft as a brush’, has raised £100.50 in donations for the charity.

Amy, who is a pupil at James Calvert Spence College in Amble, creates beautiful bespoke bracelets which she has on sale at local business, Brewis Beer, Amble. For every bracelet Amy sells she sends a proportion of her profits to the charity close to her heart, ‘Daft as a brush’ who provide free specialist transport to people diagnosed with cancer.

Amy explains; “I really wanted to give something back to the charity who provided services to my Grandma. I love making bracelets and often gift them to my friends so I thought it would be nice to try and make some money in the process by selling them at Brewis.”

Amy’s bracelets remain on sale at Brewis with new seasonal designs popping up all the time. Amy’s Mam, Gillian explains: “Amy is very creative and can design bespoke bracelets to order. It is such a lovely thing for her to do and she gets great satisfaction from making the designs and donating some of her profits to the cause close to her hearts. We are very proud of her for this and for all of her other achievements.”

In addition to this fundraising, Amy also shows kindness and enthusiasm to help others through her activities with younger gymnasts. Amy explains: “I help out at Wansbeck Gymnastics and Trampolining Club in Ashington, to support younger gymnasts with their training and demonstrations. When I’m older I’d love to be a teacher so I think this will be brilliant experience.” Amy hopes to complete the training courses with the club, which include a helpers course when she is 14 and a level 1 coaching qualification when she is 16.
