The James Calvert Spence College (JCSC), Poetry Club recently enjoyed a visit from the Amble Writing Group (AWG) for a collaboration to work on poems with the theme of ‘My favourite thing.’
Mrs Amy, Teacher of English, who organised the session explains: “The ladies from AWG shared their work first which gave our students the confidence to share what they had done. It was a really uplifting session with everybody contributing their ideas and discussing each other’s work.”
Tina from AWG said: “It was very interesting to listen to the students, hear their ideas, see their levels of confidence increase as they spoke and watch how they support each other so wonderfully.”
Pupils Alexis and Josie said they had really enjoyed hearing poetry written by the AWG and are looking forward to collaborating on some more original creative writing with the group.
The staff at JCSC run a series of lunch time and after-school clubs that cater to the interests of pupils in school, for more information about the extra-curricular clubs on offer visit here.
