To celebrate King Charles III Coronation, we have had a poem and crown making competition.

We were very excited to have the Mayor of Amble, Craig Weir, award the winning students their prizes. All students were also presented with a special coronation mug to celebrate the new King.

The mayor has been visiting schools around Amble.

He says “It’s been a great pleasure to visit schools around Amble to give them a commemorative mug. Every child will have the mug in remembrance of this great Coronation of King Charles III.”

“I was there for Queen Elizabeth II Coronation all those years ago and it was a great honour to get a commemorative mug. I’ve kept that with me all these years. I’m sure in the years to come, the children will do the same with their mugs.”

“I’ve loved visiting all the schools. I’ve enjoyed some comments from the children believing I was Charles or his brother!”

Well done to our Year 5 winners, Alarna-Mae and Oscar! Alarna won for her brilliant crown and Oscar for his poem.

Well done to our Year 6 winners, Georgia and Porscha!

Well done to our Year 7 winner Olivia. Olivia designed her poem into a camera.

Finally, we are very proud of Joe, Dougie, George, Paige, Nina and Evangeline who all stood in front of assembly and read out their poems for the mayor to hear.

A huge thank you to Mayor Craig for coming in and making the coronation something we will never forget.
