Staff from James Calvert Spence College (JCSC), Amble, hiked 26 miles earlier this month to raise funds for the school and for local charity, Hospice Care North Northumberland.
The team of walkers each donated to the school fundraising pot and asked family, friends and colleagues to sponsor their efforts with a donation to Hospice Care North Northumberland.
Executive PA, Louisa Hedley who organised the walk said: “We are overwhelmed with the kindness of our school community, raising a brilliant £1,035 for our local Hospice. The Hospice was chosen as our charity to support this year as we have colleagues, family, friends, students and their families who have benefited from the excellent work they provide in our community and we need this service to continue.”
The hikers set off from Bamburgh at 7am on Saturday 8th June and arrived at their destination, Amble, at 7.30pm the same day. The group of five that started at Bamburgh were met half-way, with a further seven walkers joining them at Craster.
Louisa continues: “The walk was great fun and it was perfect weather conditions! We enjoyed refreshments at the Jolly Fisherman, an ice cream at Craster (thanks to Amy Dryden from our team for organising), we also stopped off at a Bake Sale at Low Newton to support Whittingham Scouts, we enjoyed a picnic at Alnmouth Cricket Club and ended the day at Brewis Beer Taproom for much deserved food and refreshments. Thank you to everyone that donated, we can’t believe how much we managed to raise. We are looking forward to doing another staff fundraising activity next Spring/ Summer!”
