Special assemblies were held at both sites today for Remembrance Day, with Mr Eyeington talking about this history of Remembrance Day and discussing whether we now live in a time of relative peace.

At South Avenue, the Remembrance Day assembly had a theme of ‘service’ with poignant personal insights shared.

Mrs Gair spoke about Remembrance Day in relation to her role with Army Cadets and Miss Davies read a poem dedicated to her friends who have parents who served in the services.

South Avenue student, George, read a moving poem for his dad and everyone who served in the armed forces, past and present.

The beautiful commemorative poppy artwork displayed at both sites this week has also sparked some important Remembrance conversations.

The poppies are adorned with thank you and memorial messages for those who have given service.

The display at South Avenue was created by years 5-7 and at Acklington Road years 8-11 decorated poppies during their form time.
