At James Calvert Spence College (JCSC) we have a thriving Student Council who represent all year groups of our student body. Our student council is made up of two students from every form class within each year group. These representatives have been elected by the students.

Pictured here our 2025 student councillors with Headteacher, Mr Andriot (centre).
Mrs Donohoe, Personal and Development Education Lead at JCSC explains: “The voices of our students are valued and a fundamental part of our Personal Development Programme. Student councillors collect feedback from the peers within their tutor group and then meet with staff every fortnight to ensure all students’ voices are heard and actioned.”
We asked our pupils what it means to them to be a student councillor?
“I am excited about being part of the student council so that the views of my year group are heard.” (Year 8 student)
“Being a student rep means to make important positive changes in your school.” (Year 6 student)“To be a student rep you need to listen to others.” (Year 7 student)
“I am here to make the school the best I can for our students and staff.” (Year 9 student)
“I really want to make some positive changes before I leave JCSC at the end of year 11, something good to leave behind.” (Year 11 student)
