Our Year 8 students soaked up information about all things STEM during a visit to STEMFest at St James Park earlier this week. This year’s event had a net zero theme and showcased STEM businesses, careers and employers in our region.
The students loved taking part in the huge range of activities, solving STEM puzzles and getting to grips with some fascinating technology as part of the exhibition.
Students spent the day exploring zones for power and natural resources, climate and adaptation, business and industry, buildings and construction and transport.
Staff and students also had the opportunity to try out different VR machines, including VR apparatus designed for welding traning for car engineers.
Science Teacher, Dr Southworth, said: “We had a fabulous trip to STEMFest. There was so much to do and see. The event allowed students to explore the vast opportunities available for young people who are wanting to pursue a career in STEM.”
