James Calvert Spence College is seeking to add to our existing team of exam invigilators to help assist throughout the exam period. Invigilators work directly under the Exams Officer, who will provide training and guidance for this important post.

Duties include:

  • Assisting in the preparation of the examination venue including distribution and collection of exam papers and equipment
  • Supervising the conduct of students in and around the examination venue.
  • Ensuring all examination materials are securely maintained.

Applicants must be confident, have good organisation skills, and be able to work flexible hours. Previous experience of dealing with school age students and examination processes are desirable but not essential.

Cleaner

We seek to appoint a committed and enthusiastic cleaner to join our facilities team. You will be required to work across two sites at James Calvert Spence College: Acklington Road and South Avenue.

Working hours can vary slightly however current working hours are: Monday – Thursday 15:10 – 17:35, Friday 15:10 – 17:05. In addition, you will be required to work some hours during school holidays, as directed by your line manager.

James Calvert Spence College is situated in a beautiful coastal town in Northumberland and is a 9-19 all through school, catering for students from Year 5 to Year 13.  We are within easy reach of urban Tyneside and beyond, with many staff travel with ease in the opposite direction to the rush hour traffic from Newcastle, Gateshead and Sunderland areas.

The appointment of a SEN teacher, a new role to the school, is part of our commitment and strive to develop our work with pupils, parents and carers and the local community.

Your role as SEN teacher will include helping to identify and assess individual needs of pupils and adapt your teaching appropriately. You will also be required to liaise with other members of staff such as our Learning Support Partners, SENCO and outside agencies to support children and raise standards to help them reach their full potential. You will be required to plan, deliver, review and evaluate progress for specific pupils. You must be familiar with planning lessons and assessing for children who have a range of needs for example, Speech and Language needs, ASD, ASD numeracy and literacy difficulties and be able to demonstrate impact.

The successful candidate will initially work with our primary aged students in years 5 & 6 however you will be required to work with students higher up the school, depending on the cohort and needs of students.
