Drop Down Day: Inspiring Creativity and Real-World Learning

During the final week of term, our pupils enjoyed Drop Down Day, where the usual timetable was replaced with exciting activities designed to spark creativity and connect learning to real-world experiences.

Year 10 – “The Apprentice” Challenge

Year 10 pupils stepped into the world of business with a The Apprentice-style challenge. Working in teams, they designed and manufactured festive Christmas cards, developed marketing strategies, and ensured quality control. The cards were then delivered to local care homes, spreading joy and demonstrating our school value Be Kind, alongside the virtues of Compassion and Empathy.

Year 7 – Tech Innovation with MSP

Year 7 were inspired by Alex Penrose, Software Engineer at MSP, who shared how MSP’s software powers industries like Formula 1 and aerospace. Pupils then took on the challenge of creating a health app; designing a brand and logo, building the user interface, and even writing navigation code in Python.

These experiences showcased creativity, teamwork, and problem-solving while giving pupils a glimpse into how classroom skills translate into exciting careers.
