A Memorable Day at St. James’s Park for Our Pupils

Twenty of our pupils recently enjoyed an unforgettable experience at St. James’s Park, home of Newcastle United Football Club. These children have been working closely with Mr Slack, our dedicated Community Coach from the Newcastle United Foundation, as part of a school intervention programme aimed at inspiring young people through football.

Over the past academic year, these pupils have shown engagement and progress in the tasks set by Mr Slack, and their efforts were rewarded with a special trip to the stadium.

The day began with a guided stadium tour, where pupils and staff explored:

  • The pitch side, soaking in the atmosphere where Premier League action unfolds.
  • The changing rooms, imagining the buzz before match day.
  • The Level 7 viewing point, offering breathtaking views of the iconic ground.
  • A fascinating history of the club, delivered by an expert NUFC guide.
  • The tour concluded with a visit to the club shop, where pupils were able to spend their money on a well-earned treat — a perfect end to a brilliant day.

Mr Slack shared how proud he was of the pupils, noting their excitement, gratitude, and exemplary behaviour throughout the trip. They represented our school with pride and maturity, making the most of this unique opportunity.

Mr Slack works with our school three days a week as part of a community initiative programme in partnership with the Newcastle United Foundation. This initiative supports pupils who may be at risk of not reaching their full potential, using the power of football to motivate, engage, and inspire.

This trip was not just a reward — it was a celebration of growth, teamwork, and the positive impact of community partnerships. A huge thank you to Mr Slack and the Newcastle United Foundation for making this experience possible!
