We were thrilled to welcome so many prospective and current pupils, parents, and carers to our School Open Evening last night.
The evening began with a warm welcome from our Headteacher, Mr Andriot, who shared our school’s vision, values, and exciting future-plans. Our Deputy Headteacher, Mrs Johnson, was available throughout the evening to speak with families about joining JCSC, Year 9 Options, and our wide range of courses.
Directors and staff from each subject area were on hand to answer questions and provide valuable information about their departments, helping families gain a deeper understanding of the curriculum and learning opportunities available.
Visitors were treated to a wide range of interactive and inspiring experiences across the school, examples included:
- Science Department: Always a crowd favourite, the team wowed guests with hands-on experiments including the Methane Bubbles demo, Chromatography, Ox Heart Dissection, flame tests, and much more..
- Performing Arts: Our talented pupils showcased their creativity with live previews of rehearsals, singing performances, and musical instrument demonstrations.
- Maths: Families enjoyed engaging board games and mathematical challenges designed to stretch thinking and spark curiosity.
- English: Visitors contributed to the department’s creative ‘Poe-tree’ and designed their own bookmarks, celebrating a love of literature.
- Food Technology: Guests had the chance to make their own pizzas to enjoy, and took part in a fun and educational hazard-spotting activity—our very own “Grime Scene”!
Support for students with additional needs and pastoral care was another key focus of the evening, with dedicated staff available to discuss the comprehensive support systems in place to ensure every student thrives.
To top it all off, visitors were treated to a delicious selection of food from our school canteen, giving everyone a taste of the quality and variety our catering team provides daily.
Headteacher, Mr Andriot said: “The event was a resounding success, offering a vibrant and engaging insight into life at JCSC. There was an excellent buzz around the school and I spoke to many happy parents and young people. The biggest compliment of the night came from a parent of a Year 6 pupil who said they felt that the JCSC pupils that supported us in subjects and as guides to our visitors, were our biggest strength and demonstrated the best attributes of the school. Thank you so much to all our pupil helpers and staff for working so hard to make the evening such a success.”
