Last week, our Year 10 and Year 12 students embarked on an exciting five-day work experience programme, spending the week with a wide range of local businesses and organisations across the region.
The placements provided students with an invaluable opportunity to develop new skills, build confidence and gain first-hand experience of the world of work. From healthcare and engineering to retail, hospitality, education, the arts and professional services, our students embraced every opportunity to learn, contribute and explore potential future career pathways.
Throughout the week, staff had the opportunity to visit a number of students in their placements and were delighted to hear such positive feedback from employers about their enthusiasm, professionalism and willingness to get involved.
Head of Sixth Form, Mr Moore, said:
“I had the pleasure of visiting some of the students on the placement and I was extremely impressed by the students I have visited and I have been blown away by the amazing opportunities given to our students by local employers. Thanks to all of the parents/carers who supported their children through the week and to the pupils themselves for embracing this opportunity. A massive thank you to all of the placement providers for welcoming our pupils; you have really helped our children prepare for the next phase of their education and gave them an insight into the world of work.”
The impact of the programme was also recognised by parents, who saw the confidence and enthusiasm their children brought home after each day.
A parent of a Year 10 student, Ms Heathcote, said:
“I would like to thank the school for organising such a fantastic work experience programme. It has been wonderful to see the positive impact the week has had, my daughter has gained hands-on experience across a variety of roles, developing new skills and returning home each day full of enthusiasm.”
We would like to extend our sincere thanks to all of the employers and organisations who generously gave their time to support our students. By opening your workplaces and sharing your expertise, you have helped our young people develop valuable employability skills and a greater understanding of the opportunities available to them in the future.
We are incredibly proud of the way our Year 10 and Year 12 students represented the school throughout the week and look forward to seeing how this experience helps shape their aspirations in the years ahead.
