A group of ten pupils from JCSC were invited to join a special celebration hosted by the Amble Development Trust, following the Trust’s recent accolade – the King’s Award for Voluntary Service.
The pupils selected for this event all contribute to the Artograffi pages of The Ambler, Amble’s free community newsletter. Their creativity and commitment to local journalism have made them an integral part of the publication, and this celebration was a wonderful recognition of their efforts.
The event featured a formal presentation by Carol Pryer, Lord Lieutenant of Northumberland, and an inspiring speech by Paul Rigby, Chair of Amble Development Trust. In his address, Paul expressed heartfelt thanks to everyone in Amble who has helped make things happen in the town, especially the volunteers who give their time and energy to ensure Amble remains the “friendliest port.”
Guests enjoyed refreshments and a light lunch, with plenty of time to chat and network. A highlight of the afternoon was the ceremonial cutting of a beautifully decorated cake by Julia Aston, Director of Amble Development Trust.
Talking about her experience working on Artograffi, pupil Issy shared: “We all love writing for The Ambler. I was one of the original two volunteers from school and now we are up to ten! Hopefully we can get more young people to join us as it really is a great job.”
This event was not only a celebration of the Trust’s achievement but also a testament to the power of community collaboration and youth involvement within Amble.
