Learn about the school day, the places you’ll see and the people you’ll meet when you join us in September.
The school has excellent links with its feeder schools and this allows prospective students to visit the schools in the years before they join us and to get to know the buildings and the staff.
Due to Coronavirus restrictions we have had to do things differently this year.
Our Assistant Head Teacher for Diversity has been in touch with vulnerable children and/or those with special educational needs and/or disabilities to ensure students are fully engaged in the transition process and that their needs are met as best we can in these unusual times. Where possible, senior staff will visit our first schools in the weeks before the move to JCSC and we work closely with first school staff to ensure that children are in the same classes as they were in Year 4. Once our transition period ends in the second week in September, students are then moved into new teaching groups.
We have sent a range of home transition activities to each Year 4 child due to start in September and many first schools will be using these materials as part of their home learning during July. You will find the activities sheet sent out in the welcome packs available at the bottom of this page below a recording of Mr Nisbet reading The Skimming Stone.
Many of our teachers work across both our school sites so our Year 7 students get to know the high school staff before transition. The Year 5 and Year 6 teachers have created this slideshow to introduce themselves, just click on ‘Get to know your Year 5 teachers’ to get started, you can pause play when you need to.

We’d like to say a special JCSC thank you to Dominic Wilcox the author of the Skimming Stone, who recorded this reading of his book just for us.
