The second of our Year 7 science outdoor curriculum trips took place this week when students headed out for an educational trip to Amble’s sand dunes.

The year was split into two groups for visits on Friday 8th July, with one group visiting in the morning and the going down to the dunes after lunch.

Students had the chance to study the succession across the sand dunes, examining and identifying the variety of plant life on show, which links perfectly to concepts they have studied in class.

The groups did some fantastic work. and were very well behaved.

They searched out, sketching and correctly identifying different species. We were also blessed with some beautiful weather on the day.

Alan Carter, Assistant Director of Science, said: “Students were able to gain some real world science experience by seeing science in action on their doorstep. Our Year 7 students are really developing an appreciation for the diversity in their local environment.”
