Sun Shines for D of E Bronze Award Trip

2022

Our Duke of Edinburgh Bronze Award group put their outdoor skills to the test in sunny Embleton over the last weekend in June.

Students walked around the Northumberland coast near Embleton and the groups did amazingly, putting their outdoor skills to the test.

They learned to self-navigate, put up their tents, cook for themselves and be completely self sufficient for two days.

This is part of the practice towards their Bronze award and prepares them for the qualifier expedition in September along Hadrian’s wall where they will plan, navigate cook and again be self-sufficient for two days.

The Duke of Edinburgh Award is open to any student from Year 9 upwards who would like to challenge themselves and put something back into the community. They will learn new skills, make new friends and do something that is very special.

If you’ll be in Year 9 or above from September and would like to learn more about the scheme, please speak to Mr Gwillim.
