Dear Parents and Carers,
You will have received the regular updates from Mr Rodgers to inform you of the whole school management of the current situation following the government’s announcements. This message is therefore to inform you of the actions we are taking in KS2 to support those already in self-isolation as well as those who school will be closed to after Friday.
Tonight your child will bring home a ‘home learning pack’. This contains a blank book with information about a project that they can work on as part of their home learning activities. The book is for children to record the work they do. Additional tasks may be set via Google Classroom as the weeks progress. If your child is already off school these packs may be collected from school between 2.30pm today and 3pm tomorrow. If you are unable to collect their pack please inform school as soon as possible. The pack also contains some English and maths tasks to practise key skills they have already been learning this year.
In addition to this all our children are expected to do daily reading practice; this will be on Reading Plus if they can access it or reading an appropriate book. They are also expected to access Times Tables Rock Stars ( or do daily times tables practice) and they are all loving the weekly competitions that Mr Heeney sets.
In addition to all this, in line with the whole school home learning plan, we will be setting work via Google Classroom which your child uses as part of their computing lessons every week. Every day some work will be set and will involve a variety of activities. It is up to you and your child when this work is completed. There will be no deadlines set but your child’s teacher will be monitoring the Classroom during school hours and will mark tasks when appropriate. We will also use this area to post key information and signpost useful websites. This system is an excellent way to stay in touch with our children so we hope to see them all using it regularly.
This week the children have been completing some Spring Term assessments which we will be using to support our decisions of which tasks to set over the next few weeks.
By the end of Friday all classes will have been shown how to access the areas on Google Classroom. Please try to test out their access as soon as possible and inform school if there are any issues which we will hopefully be able to resolve for you. We hope this will help our children to keep practising their skills and keep on learning.
From the whole of the Key Stage 2 team we hope you all stay safe and healthy,
