The fantastic efforts of James Calvert Spence College D of E participants have been recognised with a certificate of volunteering value.

Pupils take part in the Duke of Edinburgh scheme from bronze up to gold level at the school, ably assisted by Mr Gwillim and Mr Armstrong.

In total, those pupils clocked up 858 hours of volunteering service between 1 April 2019 and 31 March 2020.

The award scheme recognises the value of those social hours as £3732.20, though anyone who has taken part in D of E will undoubtedly tell you about the invaluable skills, experiences and magic moments they gained through taking part.

D of E is still running during the coronavirus outbreak, although it is presently impacting what can be offered in regards to expeditions. Anyone interested in taking part next year should contact Mr Gwillim or Mr Armstrong.
