Children in Need 2021

Nov 22

Children in Need took place on Friday 19th November this year with fun and fundraising events in school.

At South Avenue, the selling of Children in Need merchandise and themed cakes raised £305 for the charity. There was also a Pudsey art competition, with students asked to decorate their own Pudsey Bear. First prize winners received Pudsey Bear ears, and runners up received Pudsey keyrings.

A ‘staff versus students’ netball match took place at Acklington Road over lunchtime. The staff team started strong with minimum numbers but plenty of skill. The student team attacked hard and had some very impressive and accurate passing.

However, the defensive duo of Mr Armstrong and Dr Southworth was strong. Mr Sked and Mr Moore worked together to take the lead. This victory was short-lived as the student team took advantage of a replay from the centre pass to take the next point and win.

After a brief pause, a second student team took on the tiring staff team. The strong student players used some impressive turns and long-distance, accurate passing. But in the end, it was the staff team who took the victory this time around.

Thank you to everyone who joined in with the fun on the day. Special thanks to those who decorated and sold cakes and organised events and activities.

And of course, congratulations to all the day’s winners – both on the netball court and in the art studio.
