Award-Winning Writer, Lily, Shares her Literary Love

Mar 21

JCSC sixth former, Lily, is no stranger to literary success. Rotary Club Alnwick and Warkworth recently announced that the JCSC student has won their Young Writer competition at regional level for the third year in a row, and her entry will now be judged at national level.

The young author was placed third in the national finals of the same competition last year, when she also celebrated coming first in the Year 10+ category of the New Writing North Young Northern Writers’ Awards 2021.

We’re extremely proud of Lily, her success and her willingness to share her love of creative writing and time with other students.

As part of our Sixth Form in-school volunteering programme, Lily is currently acting as a writing mentor to many of our younger students by assisting at our South Avenue Creative Writing club.

“They are really good writers, I’ve been blown away by just how good they are.  I’m really enjoying being part of the club and seeing the confidence of the Year 6 writers grow each week. We’re now looking out for competitions for club members to enter. For me, entering competitions helped to build my writing confidence.”

We would like to wish Lily the best of luck in the next round of the Rotary Club competition and to thank her for sharing her love and literary enthusiasm with the next generation of JCSC writers, too.
